Yes. The maximum file size of continuous recording is 4GB (i.e. the device will stop recording after 1 hour for HD+, 2 hours for HD, and 4 hours for VGA). This limitation is due to the file system of the built-in memory (i.e. FAT32 has a maximum file size of 4GB).

7. How does Instant Record work?
When Instant Record is activated, your Vado HD goes into standby mode (LCD is turned off) automatically after 1 minute of inactivity. Pressing any button wakes your Vado HD for instant recording - great for capturing spontaneous moments! To conserve battery power, it will turn itself off after 30 minutes of inactivity.

8. What is the average charging time for Vado HD?
It takes about 4.5 hours using express charging, while it takes about 7 hours for normal charging.

9. How do I enable express charging for Vado HD?
Press the Play/Pause button while it is connected to a computer system via USB to enable express charging. You cannot perform any tasks with it until you revert back to normal charging by pressing the Play/Pause button again.

10. Why is the charging indicator not shown on the LCD when I dock Vado HD to the PC?
- Ensure that the battery is inserted into your Vado HD with the correct polarity (+/-). The polarity should match the indicators shown on the battery compartment.
- The battery is already fully charged, thus showing a fully charged battery icon instead of a charging indicator.

11. Can Vado HD play videos that I have transferred from my digital collection?
In order to keep Vado HD running smoothly, it only supports playback of the videos that it created.

No. Whichever TV input Vado HD connects to first, will be active. If Vado HD is connected to both the TV's RCA and HDMI inputs when the TV is turned off, the HDMI connection will be active when the TV is turned on.)

13. Why does Vado HD's display go blank after I connect it to my TV's RCA or HDMI input?
Vado HD's display is automatically shown on your TV instead.

14. Can I format my Vado HD's built-in memory using my computer?
Yes. However, ensure that you have backed up all your software files and videos as they will be erased during formatting. If you want to format your Vado HD, use only the FAT32 file system. If you have accidentally formatted your Vado HD to use another file system, reformat it by following the steps below:
- Disconnect your Vado HD.
- Press and hold the Delete button, then turn it on.

15. What do I do if Vado HD stops responding?

If you have accidentally formatted your Vado HD to use a file system other than FAT32, reformat it by following the steps below:
- Disconnect your Vado HD.

- Remove the battery, then re-insert it.
- Connect your Vado HD to your computer.
- Download and install the latest firmware from the Creative Support page.
- After installing the latest firmware, download and install the latest Vado Central software from the Creative Support page.

17. Why is the time display inaccurate after the battery is re-inserted?
The built-in clock requires power to work. If the battery has been removed for more than 3 minutes, the built-in clock will stop working. To set the time again, press the Play/Pause and Delete buttons at the same time to enter the Settings menu.

1. Can I install the Vado Central software without connecting Vado HD to the PC?
Yes. You can also backup the software and install it separately from your local hard drive or removable disk storage.

2. Are H.264 codecs included with Vado HD and are they compatible with Xvid codecs?
Vado HD comes with an H.264 codec (HDX4) and it is installed automatically when you run Vado Central for the first time. It is not compatible with Xvid codecs.

3. Why is the audio and video out of sync, or sluggish during playback on my computer?
Ensure that your computer meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements:
- Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz or equivalent processor
- 512MB RAM
- Microsoft Windows XP SP2/Vista
Playing HD videos can be intensive on your processor and some users may experience the above issues if the computer does not meet the system requirements. This is especially so for Netbook users. There should be no problems playing VGA quality videos.

4. Why can I only hear audio but no video is displayed when using Windows Media Player to play videos recorded with my Vado HD?
You must install a suitable video codec in your computer. Vado HD comes with a H.264 codec that will be automatically installed by running Vado Central at least once.

5. How do I play videos recorded with Vado HD using QuickTime Player on a Mac?
To play the videos, your system must run on Mac OS X version 10.4.11 or later. In addition, you must install a suitable video codec like Perian v1.1.2 that can be downloaded from http://www.perian.org/.

6. I am unable to play the video recorded with Vado HD on my computer's media player, and I encounter an error while launching the Vado Central software.
Try the following steps to resolve the issue:
- Launch Control Panel and click Add or Remove Programs.
- Remove the Creative Vado HD Codec.
- To play back videos recorded with Vado HD, a H.264 codec must be installed on your computer. An alternative application that supports the H.264 codec is ffdshow. You can download this application from http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/.
- Once the H.264 codec is installed, you can use Vado Central or other players such as Windows Media Player to view your recorded videos.
Note:With the Creative Vado HD Codec removed, Vado Central will re-install it again whenever Vado Central is launched and the same issue may arise. To avoid this, do the following:

7. Can Vado HD take photo snapshots?
You can take photographic stills while playing your video in Vado Central. The photo is saved as a JPEG file with a resolution of 1280x720 (HD+, HD) or 640x480 (VGA) pixels. In addition, you can capture up to 30 continuous photos from your video with the Photoburst feature.

8. How do I add videos to my movie creation in Vado Central?
To add videos, first select them in the video thumbnail interface. To select multiple videos, press and hold the CTRL button on your keyboard while clicking the video thumbnails. After you have finished selecting the videos, click the Create Movie button to go to the movie-editing interface where you will see the added videos.

9. What are the video and picture formats supported by Vado Central during movie creation?
Video: *.wmv and *.avi (any codec including H.264 as long as your system has a compatible decoder). Photos: *.bmp, *.jpeg, *.png, *.tiff and any pictures that can be opened by Vado Central.

10. What is the actual video format and resolution of my movie creation?
The video format will be .wmv. The resolution will be the smallest resolution of all your video source files. For example, if you combine a 640x480 and a 1280x720 video, the final resolution will be 640x480.

11. Why is there no response when I click the Copy, Delete, Play, YouTube or Photobucket icons in Vado Central?
You have to select at least 1 video (in Thumbnail view) before those icons/functions can be enabled.

12. Are there any video sharing sites that support HD or 1280x720 videos?
There are several hosting sites such as YouTube, Vimeo and Dailymotion that already support HD videos.

13. Why does "Run Creative Vado Central" not appear in the AutoPlay dialog box on Windows Vista?
This is due to a limitation in Windows Vista, which is resolved in the latest Windows Vista Service Pack 1.
